Sorry Skinny - the Northern Scot got it spot on. The way the results went on Saturday, decided who played who on Sunday, and since we got beat on Saturday, we
now play Stonehaven (who were defeated by Keith) on Sunday with a kick-off time of 1pm for the 3rd/4th place play off. In the final due to be played at 3pm,
Keith will play Banks o Dee.
For a fairly accurate description of how our game went, if you log on to the highlandleague.net site then click on the Keith Football Club logo at the top of that page. I only just managed the second half of our game and thought we were dire. The rest of the guys whom I met there did say that we ought to have been up by about 2 or 3 goals at half time, but near things and close misses don't count in the game of football. I'm also a bit concerned that in 3 games we have lost 7 goals. Admittedly 3 of these were against Ross County, but to lose 2 goals in each game against a below average Highland League side and an Aberdeen junior club is not really on. We can but hope that we pick up some decent loan signings before next Saturday and the attitude of the players has to be the attitude they showed in the Ross County game. I think that was the only game where they showed a real appetite for the game. Maybe we are getting all our bad performances out of our system in friendlies. Lets hope so!!!! |

Sorry Skinny (again) - I've just had a look at the Northern Scot and yes, the headline definitely has it wrong, and the first sentence of the article also
assumes that the 2 senior sides would contest the final. I'll make sure my brain is in gear before engaging my typing finger next time.

Guys,
Let's not get hung up on these results. These games are for blowing the cobwebs away, and the "Lesser" teams sha;ll we say, treat these games as Cup Finals. Don't you remember our Highland League days, when teams would tour up North, and go away with a defeat, or a draw from Borough Briggs? And that happened for exactly the same reason as Banks o' Dee beat Elgin, it was their chance to play out of their skins against SFL opposition, knowing that it was still early in the start of pre - season training, and they'd never get a better chance. Out here, my club are actually prepared to sacrifice Pro League games, in an effort to get our system right for our CONCACAF Champions League game against New England Revolution on 26th. August, and we're suittingb 3rd. in the league, and yet the Gaffer wants the New England game so badly, he has got it into our heads that all our training is to be geared for that game. And you guys are worried about a pre season friendly against Banks o' Dee!!!!!!! Mo |

Settle settle City Mad, all will come good at the start of the real thing. Now, if you also support Celtic, then you can worry! 3-1 loss to Fulham I was
reading! Mind you, Rangers are struggling too, so I suppose we can all worry a bit.
I'm worried that we (Joe Public) are sacrificing our league points for this game inn August, as we might pull off a shock, if we play well beyond our capabilities in the first leg, but in reality, we will not have a hope in hell on aggregate, yet we are still prepared to sacrifice the Championship for one game!!!!!!!!!! I agree with your first post Lethen!
When I first read the bit I quoted (from the Martin Charlesworth story) I read it as 'will meet the hosts or Stonehaven in the final on Sunday' so you're right enough. Never mind, they're all just meaningless warm-up games! (But we still want a good performance and a win against Lossie tomorrow) skinny |
