Neefie brought it up in a previous thread but...
You can buy that shirt from a retailer for 20, I can get the badge embroidered and the Sponsor printed for 6. 26 for that shirt and everyone involved makes profit. Why are Elgin charging so much? The Old Firm are selling theirs for 29. |

I see St Mirren who are also Hummel are selling theirs for 40 - it must be the recommended price from the manufacturer.

Dundee Utd strips are also made by Hummel and they are also 40

By looking at the "Purchases" bit of each item, the strips dont seem to be selling too well.

Quote: I think they call it MAKING A PROFIT. After all isnt that what being in business is all about. I believe that if you buy the shirt and put the badge on youself you might be breaking the copyright laws, I dont know for definite but I would think that to be the case. NOALL, If you dont like the price then dont buy the shirt. Go and buy an old firm shirt instead. |

Quote: Erm OK, why that is relevant i have no idea OK i purchased 2 shirts form last season. Spent a fortune all in all cost me the best part of 90 as with postage adding as well.... Both shirts aint even been to a match infact I never seen the team even wearing them... Going on the above users way of thinking, at least if i had of purchased and old aulf firm shirt I would have at least seen the team actually playing in the same shirt that I purchasaed.... But again irrelevant to this thread. I REFUSE to pay another 40 so close after buying both strips from last season that the team didnt even wear |

He was stating a price and not saying that he was wishing to buy one though!!!
A price that is blummin good compared to the Elgin price |

I think the idea would be to maximize profit. If the shirts were £30 I would buy one. For the milage I've had out of the 2 I bought just over a season ago
I think that changing the sponsor then changing the strip is too much for fans to pay out. I would have put 2 seasons ago, but they took nearly 4 months to
arrive!

Its ashame the Hearts tops was made by hummel haha ill have to get a top soon. I had the old one from the Gordon Williamson days it was a smart top only
problem was people thought it was a St'mirren or Newcastle top. We need to become a bigger team haha

I have had a quick look at other Division 3 clubs prices for their shirts and got the following prices: (based on S-XXXL sizes).
Cowdenbeath £42 Montrose £40 Elgin City £40 Annan £35.95 Berwick £35 Dumbarton £35 Stenhousemuir £34.99 East Stirling £30 Forfar ?
So the price range looks between £35-40
As for the profit you have to keep in mind clubs try to make much profit to add to the mangers budget. Parents normally buy their children every shirt of the team they support, which if it is Rangers or Man Utd you're looking at buying nearly 3 strips a year! The old firm are in a position to buy in bulk and sell at a cheaper rate because they can sell by the bulk unlike Elgin who are no way near the premier league or will ever have the status of the old firm, so comparing it to the big top two I would say is a bit harsh.
I wish footy strips were cheaper but as a paying out fan u know that the money is going to YOUR club. If you want an Elgin City shirt you will buy one. The Hummel shirt and gear is of good quality the 'Diva Blue' away shirt being my favourite top and I see many of the people I coach sporting the new tops and tracksuits.
