No team would drop out because there's no chance of it happening.
Unless I'm wrong I believe there's a league called the RESERVE LEAGUE, for you guessed it, reserve teams. But who gets their news from the daily record? :P |

In the short term I don't think anyone will drop out. I think it would simply mean one team being idle on a rotational basis . More likely I think in light
of possible SPL2 is the reorganisation of the current 2nd and 3rd divisions on regional lines ie North and East and South and West. At the end of the season
there would be a play off competition between top teams from the new regional divisions for promotion to SPL2.
At the other end of the league, there would be play offs involving the Highland League in the N/E and the South and East Leagues in the S/W. Below this there would be a pyramid system to allow junior clubs to progress to the Highland League and South and East leagues. Just my thoughts - what do others think? |

I think we had better get off the bottom of the league and fast or it could be BACK TO THE HIGHLAND LEAGUE.
In my view it might not be the worst thing to happen. Ok calm down,it's only my view.

I think we may find one or two SPL teams looking to do something similar. I do not believe they would just throw all there reserve players on the scrap heap. I
would also like to think that if it happened that no SPL team would be allowed to win the league, and they would stay there for the following season. Just my
own views!

Idea seems to be gaining support and momentum. Scrapping of SPL reserve league seems certain. SFA supports idea. According to Daily Record all 10 Div 3 clubs
"overwhelmingly in favour". A long way to go yet though, I would suggest.

Story has to be taken seriously. Today's Scotsman:
Smith favours Celtic reserves playing in the Third Division By Alan Pattullo
SFA chief executive Gordon Smith has backed a bid by Celtic to enter a side into the Third Division and expressed the hope that Rangers will
join them.
Smith, below, was responding after it was revealed Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell met David Longmuir, his opposite number at the
Scottish Football League, last week for talks about a range of matters, with the idea of a second Celtic side competing in senior league football the most
significant - and pressing - issue.

Look down on? What I mean was that the daily record is quite often a bit off the mark with their stories (like every tabloid)
What angered me was that a lot of people were trying to tell me that Elgin were obviously going to be a team to make way for this 'B' team, however if the league really is going to be restructured then I've got nothing against it. |

The very idea of Celtic reserves, or Rangers reserves, or any other SPL reserve team coming into SFL 3 should be a non starter!!! They are tryingto buy their
way in with the carrot of a couple of bigger gates for all the rest of the teams twice a season, and if clubs are gullable enough to buy that, then they really
are losing touch with reality.
The HFL make an excellent stand many years ago, when Caley and Ross County tried to have their teams compete in the HFL, but the reply they got was that they wanted out of the HFL in the first place, so there was no room for them at all in any HFL setup. As for Knocks suggestion that they would be welcome in, but not allowed to win the league, what's the point of that? Ian, those white things at each end of the field are the goalposts, where either team has to try and score more than the other, in trying to WIN the game!!!! Football is all about winning, and if any team is allowed to compete, and they're good enough to gain the most points in the season, then they get promoted, simple as that, and if that happened in Celtics case, then the carrot of the bigger gates for a couple of games, would only last one season for the SFL 3 clubs, so it's really a short sighted vision. I'm all for reorganisation, but only if a pyramid system was introduced, likew that in England. It allows teams to be formed, and if they have the ambition, the drive, the finance, and are successful, they can achieve FL status in something like 9 years. |
