Definitely think the boys will do it on Saturday but a few changes maybe considering suspensions and such but if EVERYBODY gives there all we should be ok.
Gamrieloon has excellent points and should work with Jeff Stelling ha.I dont know why people are getting there back up about Gunn? nobody has questioned how
good a signing he has been cos obviously goal wise he has been awesome and hopefully keeps it up but apart from goals he has contributed nothing at all in
games and seems to only look injured when it not going his way. Edwards gets stick every game and twiggy sometimes but i never see them hiding or am i just
imagining it?
I think we will go 4 4 2 as usual but i have 3 or 4 teams in my head but as i said we WILL win.WeAreElgin seems to dislike Demo but i dont know what you expect from him? he is not a matchwinner like Gunn can be but as a defender over the years he rarely loses a tackle or get beat 1 v 1.Thats his job and most of us would agree he does it well and i cant believe you thought he looked shaky on Sat i thought he was solid, him and Kaz played well together like they have done so before against probably the best forward line in the league. They never lost a header and i thought as a unit were pretty solid and this helped young Tatters who i thought was excellent. Might be a good game for young Inglis as he looks very fit and lively but i also like Calder who is not scaed to get involved and is a good team player which is what we need on Sat.Gunn to score 1-0 and i will take that to the bookies. |

i think that the p+j article is encouraging as it say to me that there are a few younger boys who could be pushing through into the first team over the course
of the season. I dont necessarily think that he is going to field the team that beat caley in the bounce game. I think that the younger players will be on the
bench and used as subs late in the game to exploit Nairn when some players get tired. Or at least I hope thats what he does...
we need our best players to be fired up for this one! Good luck to Elgin tomorrow |

It's not that I don't like Demo, I think he is a wonderful player, I was just unsure about his effectiveness as a centre half. It was frustrating to
see every pass he made go straight to the opposition, time and time again, limited I think by having to play in the centre.
I don't know what's annoyed me about him, it's probably due to the fact that he was so hyped up when he came here, yet he hasn't shown us what he's capable of. No, you're right, he's not the type of player to win us a game but would it be fair to compare him to David Niven, who set up Craig Gunn for his goal on saturday? |

I agree WEA, its frustrating when a good player is limited in his output. Playing centre back does not really give that many creative options so I would
forgive him last week. But, normally he plays left back, and mostly has to pass it long. That is because, as we have all said recently, his wing men Crooks or
Macauley do not get wide enough, or give themselves space to receive and hold onto the ball. This might be a bit radical but with centre mid options limited I
might be be tempted to play Demo in there and Edwards at centre back - he doesn't miss much in the air. However, Tony Low is a good winger so I think the
full backs will have a defensive job to do firstly.

Does Ross Jack, in your opinion, know what his best team is? Should he know by this stage of the season? Who should be automatic choices in which position?
Which positions is he still unsure about? Who would you have filling these uncertain positions?

The forecast is for heavy rain at Nairn this afternoon for our second round tie of the Scottish Cup.

I would be happy with a draw. Anything except defeat, which I still feel is a distinct possibility if we play with the same casual effort as last 2 games.
Sorry can't be more positive.

Come on guys, let's get up for this and get behind the team today!!
It's going to be a battle and I hope we get f*****g stuck in! Come on Elgin!!! |

I'm quite looking forward to trying my hardest to wind up the opposition players, it's worked in the past by putting them off their game so it'll
work today as well!
Come on the Elgin, let's book our place in the next round. |

Bookies have us at 3/5 on; Nairn 4/1 against.

There should be no question ofcourse we shall win just by how many!! We are playing quite a poor Highland League team this is our players chance to show the loyal fans what they are made off . Surely to think of being beat by Nairn should not be even a possibility. |

good turn out at the game although the abuse given out to campbell was a little bit much, also the little kids aged about 9?? using foul language towards
ridgers, think the parents wouldhave been in control of the little brats!!!

The language being used by the young lads on the supporters bus, between the bus station (where we were dropped off) and the ground, was equally vile and did
not show Elgin City FC in a particularly good light. These lads should be made aware that their behaviour reflects on the football team they support.

Meant to say in my earlier post re the game. I'm certain sure that we would be a much better team with Cammy Campbell in our side. He was the one player in
he Nairn team who worried our defence throughout the game and I could not help but imagine what he could do for us rather than Crooks or McAulay. But then he
went to Nairn for the money - so we know where his heart lies. I thought that young Tatters had another very strong game and if he continues to play the way he
has started, he may get his wish to play at a higher level. Does anyone know why Demo was missing yesterday?? There was no indication befoe the game that he
was not going to be playing. Great credit on David Craig Senr. for coming into the side after 3 weeks out and playing so well.

Demo had to withdraw from the team at a late stage as his wife was due to give birth

Delighted to have avoided the banana skin that was Nairn away and that we now go into the hat for the third round to be played on 28th November 2009 along with
third division Albion, Livi, Berwick, Montrose and Forfar.
Interesting to see Highland League sides Cove and Locos who beat Div 3 competition and Keith and Wick also in the third round together with the winners of replays of Buckie v Deveronvale and Huntly v Auchinleck. Some negative comments in the press and also the Highland League web side describing Elgin City as no more than a mid table Highland League side and suggesting Elgin faithful would prefer regular local derby matches against Nairn, Buckie, Huntly, Keith and Vale than the long away trips offered by the Div 3 fixture list. Delighted for Frizzell - hopefully his cup hatrick will give him confidence going forward and will lead to greater consistency and workrate. Also pleased that Inglis got a start and some more game time for Calder. The likeable Ross Jack must have felt under some pressure going into last week but a victory midweek against ICT which saw encouraging performances by all accounts and a win against Nairn in the Cup will make him feel happier. He must now back his judgement by getting our best players out for our away match at Queens Park this coming weekend and look to collect all three points. |

The Press have got it right on both counts. Having said that let's hope we don't get Locos, Cove, Keith or Buckie/'Vale in the next round. Montrose at BB would do fine. Whatever became of Kenny Black? I was a supporter of his scheme. Ah well even I can make a mistake. Looks like we dodged abullet there. |
