first of all the performance was really a shambles. niven has no pace, huge liability, as 4 goals proved tonight, we maybe were the slightly better of two
poor sides for most of the game but four through balls outdone us completely. ridgers hardly filled us with confidence, flapping for crosses and sklaffing kick
outs. frizzel was non existant, hardly the exciting skillful player we've seen flashes of earlier on in the season. sid mckay hit a cracker of a free kick
off the bar after the first goal, then he just frustrated everyone with poor touches, passes and god awful deliveries from good free kick positions. nicholson
and zander only two with pass marks, as expected.

That was my first game for a long while and to be honest I thought that for most of the game Elgin were much better than Starnraer. But as Citydaft says, we
were caught out by the lack of pace or reading the game wrong at the back. That offside rule does make it difficult for defenders though, if you step up on a
player and he is left offside you think you've done your job only for him to run back on and someone else runs through. I know you should be aware of the
third man but it is a nightmare of a rule.
Refs do make it hard for us to like them, I couldn't see why it was a red card then watch two Stranraer players tag team Rusty and not give anything.
Some good football at times though, worth the £9 just to see the two boys trying to sneak in for nothing and falling off the wall, then trying to get back out because of the noise they made when they landed on the junk in the corner. Cold night but I enjoyed the game.

Ouch, that was sore but put the game into perspective. We had 75% of the play in the first half and went in 3 down thanks to comical defending starting in just
48 secs. I thiught we played some decent football, created chances, forced the keeper into making saves but the defence had a real bad day at the office.
I'm not going to start slagging individuals as collectively we defend as a team. Stranraer were decent, well organised and clinical in their finishing,
don't know the names but numbers 9, 10 and 11 caused problems all night with their pace.
Not often I agree with Noall, but I was directly opposite the sending off incident and the referee's decision was an absolute joke, the defender made a superb tackle on Zander clearly getting the ball first. Citydaft You got the sending off right but you're way over the top with your comments slagging players, yes the defending was dire but to come out and nail Niven and MacKay in particular on the basis of one performance and then bleat about wasting £9 is every bit as embarrassing as our defending was. |

I couldn't be bothered posting on this last night - but then again, the players couldn't be bothered playing last night either!
I can only assume that Chez was ill/injured, Shally and Daisy were working? Why no subs made until Kenny was brought on with 7 minutes left (so he could get himself booked!) Playing 4-5-1 at home? and then in the second half some other formation - I'm not sure what (and neither were the players by the look of it!) Thankfully we'll get Demo back on Saturday, he must go straight into the team and hopefully Kaz will partner him in the centre - they've looked solid over the last few games. Have we won a game this season without Demo in the team? we do look lost without him; 5-0 at Arbroath in the cup... Yet again the refereeing was comical last night ( should be used to it by now!); the sending off was amazing; the guy won the ball - not even a foul! I won't single out players for cricticism - they should know themselves. The only pass marks on the night went to Mark Nicholson. I note they didn't announce a man-of-the-match after the game! |

Well guys,
I've been following the reports on the games out here on the BBC website, and it looked as if things were really on the up. However, the old saying of, "A bad day at the office" could be the one that aplies here. I've always believed, and still do, that you judge a team comming off the back of a humping by their next result, a this will demonstrate the Managers and players reactions. Let's wait and see!!!! |
