I ain't no Hansen. My report will be basic at best......incoherent at worst.
Looking forward to the game actually. Saw Elgin earlier on this season during the cup at the start so would be intresting to see what changes I notice.

Ok guys just back up and sitting home watching my golfer that I put £10 on have the worst luck ever (Mickelson). Anyway, must say I enjoyed my wee trip to Elgin, nice food at a place I can't remember and a nice pint in the social bar before the match. I think it was asked how well will Elgin do (or struggle) if you get promoted this season? Well first of all let me say that I watched Elgin at the start of the season when they came up to Vicky Park in the CIS cup, and after watching them today I can safely say there has been significant improvments. Stranraer were happy to defend and try to ht on the counter, and I thought Elgin looked to use the space given by playing the ball on the ground and with fast passing to the feet. That has to be appluded as too many teams in Divison 2/3 are happy to lob the ball straight up the middle, in fact that was how County and Cally both got out of Division 3. However to do this players have to move the ball with force and conviction, and the fella Frizzel too often was not clinical enough. The young goalie Ridgers was also at fault for the first goal by not punching, although as a goalie myself (a bad one mind) can see why he tried to catch it. Attacking Elgin looked pretty decent at time's and I can see why Zander now is in the running for player of the year, but also the No.11 (did'nt catch his name) was always lurking about. Overall I think Elgin were unlucky not to get 3 points from today, if that shot had been inside the post (or even just past) then I think Elgin would have got the 3 points I felt were deserved. One question though was why no sub during the second half, it was obvious that the players were running on empty, and a new pair of legs on could have just kept the presure going, also kudo's to Ridgers, who took an almighty thump in the second half, in what was I felt a 50/50 ball. But to answer the question above, currently Elgin are not quite good enough to surrvive 2nd Division, to be honest I'm afraid that you'll just might
miss out on the playoff's. However if you can keep hold of Williamson and Kenny G, who have got the team playing with style and panache |
