would it work if the club were to set up a way for people to order elgin merchandise over the net? is there a big enough fan base outside Moray to make this work and cover costs of running this? would it be sucsessful? Discuss

Easy.
You look on the unofficial website, see the shirt you want, email the club, ask if its ok to order one, the club should reply back (eventually), you send you credit card details or post and cheque or what ever to the club, then the club send you your required mechandise. Complicated? |

We have been through this before.
1. The club don't reply to emails, or at least have never replied to mine. 2. Are any shirts actually available? 3. Is the merchandise list up to date on the site? Jason has mentioned before about having very little communication with the commercial department himself. 4. William, your idea of "e-commerce" is pretty much defeating the purpose of "t'internet". mon the city |

This would be very easy to set up and manage!!!
The only problem once again is the fat t***s who run the commercial side of things at borough briggs!!! |

I may have had a go at people at the club in the past for living in the HL days, but I think you're wrong here. To be fair, most people wouldn't know how to set up an internet shop! If they really wanted to, I'm sure they could take advice from people.
The main thing would be to keep it up to date - if the shirts are out of stock then tell us. But I think that was the subject of another topic! They cursed us. Murderer they called us. They cursed us. And we wept, Precious, didn't we? We wept to be so alone. And we only lust to catch fish so juicy sweet. And we forgot the taste of bread... the sound of trees... the softness of the wind. We even forgot our own name. My Precious.

The point is, they are not 'most people', the are the COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT whose JOB it is to raise money for the club, sell stuff to the fans to make money, and to find new and more ways of raising capital!!

Ok, fair enough, but who is/are the commercial dept? As far as I can tell, there's only one or 2 people running it, along with all the administration of the club. They don't have enough time to do everything. The problem is lack of manpower.

Possibly a lack of man/woman power, perhaps it would help if the work they did do was a little more visible and there werent so many complaints about them.
How can they be too busy to make sure they have enough shirts in stock or on order? Or if they have scarves in stock? I mean, come on, you can buy Buckie and Huntly shirts online, I guess they must be better staffed then, eh? Debbie you are in Berlin, Im in Rome, then there are the folk in the central belt, down to Englandshire and beyond to OZ and the US, so I do think there is an interest for minimal outlay. An example A signed Elgin shirt sells for 40 on Ebay, money goes to charity( fair enough), the folk within the club should have seen that and thought doh, we could make money like that but no, they were too busy bleeding the social club dry and sending out begging letters. And dont even get me started on them shutting up for a local holiday in this day and age. Its 2004 not 1904. mon the city ps debbie, this was not a dig at you at all. |
