However, after such an achievement, I would like to think that there has been some work going on behind the scenes, to ensure that what has been achieved this season will be built on, and that work has been done to ensure that the club are in a position of retaining both the Management Team, and the players they wish to keep, along with having looked at all opportunities to give the Manager some increase to his budget, so that he can bring in another few players to strengthen any areas he felt required change from this seasons campaign. I know that the Manager has worked on a "shoestring", but sometimes when a "shoestring" breaks, rather than buy a new one, some will just make do with a shortened version, instead of buying a new, stronger one.
What I'm saying to the club, or indeed the board specifically, is to show their ambition, and although money is very tight, push the boat out to the limits, and build on what has been achieved. Be bold, and aim for the play offs next season, and put the tools in place to allow that to happen. Remember, that you have to spend a pound to make a pound, and if you are successfull, in a results driven industry, you will be rewarded. Perhaps not by huge gates, but with realistic gates, and increased hospitality, I do believe the club would see an increased financial benefit. But they must be prepared to take that step, and indeed, the risk.
Therefore, let's hope that everyone is ambitious, and that there will be positive steps to improve on this seasons performance, and in the next week or so, we'll get confirmation of the clubs plans for next season. And before the usual "Stop Knocking the Board" posts come on, this is not what I'm about, but I am asking questions on what plans were made by the club if the team had been successfull, and gained promotion through the play offs, as realistically, it was still possible to do up until last Saturday. So, whatever plans were in place for achieving such a feat, surely that's all that the club would have to implement for next season, to give us the opportunity to stake the claim for promotion for the first time in our SFL history.
