Great to see in the Northern Scot today that O'Donoghue, Kaczan and Nicholson have all signed new contracts.

Bad news http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/617520 it looks like Zander is going back to the Jags. |

Here are a few very positive quotes from the NS article; I'm amazed that 50:50 & tattler have not been on warning us all about this 'rosy' news! The position of Williamson and Gilbert has moved closer to resolution and they look set to sign a Borough Briggs contract. They worked without a contract this season but talks have moved forward to secure their immediate future, said Gilbert. "It is looking pretty positive and we wouldn't be re-signing players if we weren't going to be here ourselves," said Gilbert. The pair have also made moves to bring some new faces to the club and Gilbert believes they will be even stronger next season. I look forward to the rumours as to who the new faces will be. |

WILLIAMSON AND GILBERT SET TO STAY AT MORAY CLUB NEXT SEASONElgin management team close to signing contractsPublished: 03/05/2008 The Elgin City management team of Robbie Williamson and Kenny Gilbert are close to agreeing contracts to commit themselves to the Third Division club. The duo steered the Moray side to the brink of the division play-offs without contracts but are near to officially tying themselves to Elgin. The vast majority of the Elgin squad are out of contract but assistant manager Gilbert is confident they will keep the players which performed so well this season. Defenders Paul Kaczan and Mark Nicolson, along with midfielder Ross O'Donoghue have all agreed new one- year deals at the Moray club and Gilbert hopes more will follow. He said: "We will be at the club next season. There was a lot of uncertainty after the last game of the season but we are well advanced in talks about next season. "Things have moved along quite well - although we have not signed anything yet. We have made big steps, we are getting there. "Both Robbie and I wanted to know the club were on the same wavelength as we are. "If there is a contract in place then we will officially be on the same wavelength. "It is not a big deal to us, as long as we know they want to better Elgin we will be there. "If the club were not willing to give us a commitment they were trying to improve things there was no point in us banging our head off a brick wall. There are no guarantees in football but the club have given us assurances and if it means getting something signed soon that would be good. We would not be signing players if we are not going to be at the club next season." Gilbert insists personal terms are not an issue for the management duo. He said: "It has never been an ego trip for Robbie or I, neither of us want to gain money from the club. "If you go back to the last manager he was probably getting more than the two of us put together and you are getting a manager, assistant manager and player." |

Chico Hoof,
Great news to cross tome in the Caribbean!!!! When the ink is on the paper, we can then really look forward to next season, and if it's as exciting as this one's been, that's all you can ask for. If it's bettered, it'll be wonderland. Personally, I'd put no pressure on anyone, and would just like to see the club get to the play-off's for the first time, that's all!!!! Great news though, Mo |

None of my posts were meant as "gloom and doom" but merely to make people aware that all was not rosy. I am delighted that the Board have realised how important the management team are but disappointed that they dragged their heels and waited until the season had finished instead of tying up Robbie and Kenny much earlier. |

Have Robbie and Kenny signed contracts for next season? Reading the Northern Scot it looks promising, but MJ said all the right things in the same paper and
promptly went to Brechin.
I am very suprised to see Kaz staying here, he (in my opinion) is the best full back in the league and would surely have had other offers. This alone makes me think that next season doesn't look so bleak after all. If Mr Tatters has secured the services of Robbie and Kenny then well done, this must have been difficult to run by certain people at the club. |
