grrrrr this what boils my pee
a few seasons ago it was great as we had some friendles up this way, Northallerton and somwhere that is so rememberful ive forget the name, anyway it was only about a 50 min drive from here... and it was great, now if your living in Elgin then you get too see the team play on a regular basis, the least that can be done for the support Up North, is to give us some friendlies in and about this area so that we at least get a chance to see a couple of games as well, even if they are only friendlies... |

Geordie Lass wrote: Your kidding, right? How much do you reckon it costs to take the team down there for a couple of days?? We've struggled to do overnighters LEAGUE GAMES for the like of Berwick, Stranraer and Gretna, God rest their souls. Travel, accom, food etc for circa 20 guys ain't cheap..... Do you really expect us to do it for a pre seaon kick-about?? Especially when you factor in that during the close season, the club will go without significant cash flow for around 2 months. At the start of the season you are always going to need some early income. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the preseason they done the tour, there was no home friendlies. You'd think someone was trying to bankrupt the club?? It was a failled experiment and until such time that we have money to burn, we shouldn't be doing it again |

maybe KB financed that English tour ? I agree with GL it was good for those down South to see the team but maybe no more than a dozen Elgin fans at each
match, altho i only went to the North Allerton game..not financially viable anymore tho

A good beating with a big stick would do them no harm.

trauts, a good beating with a big stick!! This brings back more memories, and links up with my last post on another thread about Ian Wilson.
As part of Ian's transfer, Leicester came up to play us in a midweek friendly, following a game at Newcastle. On the way up, Jock Wallace stopped the caoch at the border, and stood at the front, facing his players, and said, "Right you B$%$#@&s, you're about to be educated". That's true, and it came from a chat I had with Leicesters captain at the time, Denis Roach. He also told me the story of the stick! When the Leicester players heard that Jock Wallace was their new manager, fear struck their hearts, as Jock's reputation for pre=season training had gone before him. However, knowing that there was no beaches around Leicester, thay knew that they would be spared Jock's favourite pre-season spot, Gullane sands, and it's high dunes. Firsday back at training, the players reported to Filbert Street, and were told to get changed, and that there would be a coach waiting for them to take them to see the new Foxes Training complex, which was under construction at the time. They thought this was great, and a good way to stqart the new season training. WRONG!!!! When they got there, Jock Wallace was standing on top of a stockpile of topsoil, WITH A STICK IN HIS HANDS, and he shouted to Iain McFarlane, "Get the B^&%$#*s into twos, and get them up here"! True story, told to me by Denis Roach that night, and verified by Jock himself after the game when I asked him about it. God bless him!!!!! |

I have it on good authority that we have accepted an invitation to play in a round robin tournament at Keith pre-season. Teams involved allegedly are Keith FC and a couple of good Aberdeen junior teams. |

Should tonights game not be on the mast head of the main site - it says 'no events' beside next game. I thought it had been postponed until I dug into
the fixture list.
We should make these things apparent on first glance, so the casual visitor can see immediately that there is a game on. It might get one or two extras in throug the gate! |

The fixture tonight should be highlighted on the front of the site - currently it says 'no events' beside next fixture. If the club is serious about
getting more people in, these important things should be immediately apparent to the casual browser without having to go into the guts of the site!

Oops - sorry about that. It didn't want to go first time, thought it had got lost in cyberspace!

3 - 2 to County.
Good first half. 2 goals from Crooks. Low was pretty solid throughout the entire 90. Had a player David Allan playing who looked very strong alongside Ross O'Donoghue. We need a bit of depth across the board by the looks of it. |

I was impressed by the fact that we continued to try and play football, even when we were under the cosh. And we did look good at times!! The young lad up
front just behind Jason Crooks did quite well, considering he came in for some stick from the rather tall and large County defenders. Crooks did well for his 2
goals - a great jump and header for his first being memorable, although no more memorable than the control and cross in from Tony Low to lay it on. If he can
stay clear of injury he could well be an asset this season. There were 2 young-ish lads came on in the second half as well as Charlesworth, and I thought all
three looked O.K. They all looked comfortable on the ball and proved a couple of times that they were happy to "mix it" if that was what was needed.
I would agree with ghost26 that we look to be a bit thin on the ground re cover for certain positions, mainly in midfield and up front, but I would like to see
us with some cover for our defence as well. It just takes a couple of injuries to spoil the best laid plans. I don't know if any of these young lads were
possible signings or "loan" players. Never mind, that's us up and running now - the start of the season just cannot come quick enough fo me.

The boy Low looks a good prospect. Pretty quick, good feet, as seen by the cross for the goal, but a little static when looking for the ball I thought. He
seemed to wait for it rather than look for it, but that will come with a lot of encouragement from Robbie & co.
I was very pleased by the attitude of the players through out the game, a good sign for the season to come I hope. |

Do we really have another season ahead having to listen to that announcer? I appreciate his enthusiasm, but it's ridiculously cringe worthy listening to
him introduce songs and make announcements. Music after goals shouldn't be played in the Scottish Third Division, if anywhere!

Couldn't agree more! the announcer loves the sound of his own voice! I pay money to watch football, not listen to his voice.
