CityDiehard What a negative sad comment to make that you dont care if the weeds are 10ft high!! God help us if all supporters and fans felt like that. We should take pride in our ground and provide our team and manager with the best possible park and surroundings as that goes to help ones morale.Hopefully our Board of Directors do not share your views !!!!

Bob left Borough Briggs and the pitch in excellent condition a few weeks ago and the club failed to deal with that. The directors should take responsibility for any deterioration of the ground. |

After speekin to the city players and the CALEY players both teams were happy with the surface. Aslong as the players are happy to play on the surface the fans
cant complain about the pitch.

Well, After reading some of the posts, I'm beginning to think that maybe Ross Jack is taking a leaf out of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor's book, as
when they won the English league with Derby County, the Baseball Ground was such a mess, and on a rainy day, a sea of mud, that only they could play on it. The
visitors just didn't have the stamina to last the pace, which gave Derby a huge advantage. And John Clayton, an Elgin Loon, can testify to that, as he was
at Derby, and experienced that pitch first hand!
So, maybe this is a new tatic to help us get some sucess this season! OK, so this is all tongue in cheek, and no slant on Bob and Ed's work, but the Derbu County bits are a fact!!!! |

Gentelmen,
I think it is now time to put this subject to bed now. I like everyone else who support Elgin City acknowledge the hard work and quality time that Bob Cruickshank and his wife Pauline have devoted to Elgin City Football Club over the last few years.They have both arrived at this descision together, and, you as supporters have to repect this,bearing in mind the long and illustrious list of Elgin City people that they have joined, (some of who are now in their graves), that have done a magnificent job for Elgin City down through the years :- Danny Russell,Jock Geddes,Bunty Geddes,Charlie Mchardy,Frank Masson,Billy Lyons,George Bain,Grace Bain,Ricky Graham,Andy Bruce,Colin Morrison,Jimmy Russell,Kate Cumming&Marilyn Russell to name but a few. Pirate Mo will know who i'm talking about,and, no doubt he could name one or two more to join the list also. Bob and Pauline,i think,would be very appreciative knowing that the supporters have acknowledged their immense and dedicated contribution to the Football Club and Social Club. Remember,Elgin City with our support will go on no matter who is President,Board Member,Groundsman or Kitman Just my opinion, Regards, Northseacrock |

Northseacrock. I have read your comments and views and in the main I agree with you. However you have missed one very important point which is that Bob had no
intention of retiring but this was forced upon him by a decision made by the Board of Elgin City. I shall not bore you with the details as it is well
documented. Yes its time this matter was laid to rest but let us NOT forget the reason why Bob had to leave his beloved park!!!!! I think everything that
needs to be said on this matter has been said and lets hope that Bob will continue to go to Borough Briggs and watch His Team

Hi northseacrock,
I take it that you've just returned from a trip! I intervened here because I saw the issue becoming more of something personal, which shouldn't have been going on here on the message board, as names were being named, and that was wrong. That said, I agree that it would have been nice to give Bob a small token of thanks, and what I've since learned, is that the club did send him a letter of thanks for what he has done, but which has not been mentioned on this thread. As for past servants of the club, you're right, I could add a fair few to your list, the likes of, Ronnie & Rosie Eddie, Cecil & June Jack, John & Helen Grant, Stuart Crockett, Gordon Harper, Mrs. Hendry, and many more, and not to forget my first Chairman, the late great Tom Gordon, who told me more about how to look after myself in football than anyone else I've ever met. The list goes on and on!!! Still, as you say, and rightly so, people, both good and bad, will come and go, but Elgin City Football Club will still be there for the next generation to pick up on, and hopefully continue the many debates and arguments that it raises. Hell, we've had a few over the years!!!! |

I would be very happy to put this topic to bed if City Diehard withdraws his comment on the "jungle" thread that Bob and Edd "left the club in
the lurch". This is a damning criticism and, if its a view floating around BB as an excuse for the state of the ground ,it should be squashed.

Ally T you are right several people have mentioned this matter to me and I also believe that this slur" on Bob should be removed,as nothing could be
further from the truth. Anyone who knows Bob would realise this is a fairytale made up by .......... wonder who!!!! Hopefully the fans and supporters will nae
be that gullible. Come on City Diehard do the honourable thing and lets put this matter to rest.

AllyT, why should I withdraw my comment because you dont agree with it? I am entitled to my opinion as much as you are entitled to yours. I thought that the
idea of message boards like this was to allow people to express their opinions & have discussions? As I have already said on the 'jungle thread' I
know, like & respect Bob but what else do you call it when someone LEAVES without notice ?Highlander mentions that Bob was left with no choice because of a
decision the Board took. What decision was that then because as far as im led to believe the ban on Mrs Mutch was upheld? Perhaps there was something else
decided that I am not aware of that made Bob staying at BB not possible?
PS I think the weeds are being attended to as I heard the strimmers going yesterday when I passed BB on the way to the circus!!! |

saw one of the directors with a strimmer on sat outside the ground so they must be doing something and there was me thinking they would all be down at st
johstone watching the closed doors friendly ,does anyone know how this game went .....

Diehard where did you get your information re C Mutch!!! Your prepared to condemn a man of integrity who resigned on a point of principal and now you would
turn that around to sound as if Bob just walked away and left them "in the lurch". Perhaps rather than listen to malicious rumour you should have
spoken to Bob before putting such a slur on a gentleman. Ofcourse you are entitled to your view but only if made on fact. Aplogise please.

I agree City Diehard yes you are entitled to your view but my view is that you should apologise for your comments as the fact that the board was even
considering allowing Carol Mutch back into BB is enough for the Cruikshanks to feel totally let down and betrayed by the board.You said Bob had no reason to
leave but in my opinion it is ridiculous to see how Bob could continue the unrecognised hard work, time and effort he put into BB with this betrayal from the
board who should have been thinking about him for a first after all that he had done for the club. Maybe some of the board should take on the job of
maintaining the ground and maybe then they will realise the amount of work that both Edd and Bob put into the club over many years.Then they may understand and
change their view.
